Artist Note #32 – Bibliothēca Project (Part 2) and the End of a Semester

May 29, 2025

The End of the Beginning

I completed my first semester of teaching visual communication and digital photography – lots of learning to determine the best strategies to teach students at varying skill levels. I’ve set a baseline of what worked, what could work, and what will work for future iterations. But of course, it all depends on the classroom dynamics. I’m looking forward to continuing to teach digital photography in the fall and adding another class, TBD.

Bibliothēca Project (Part 2)

Remember my post about making lots of prints for the Bibliotheca project? Well, things did not go as planned. I had a lofty goal, but I confess that class prep, class time, and grading took precedence over making work.

But it all worked out in the end. I made nine prints, of which six were placed at one of the Chicago Public Library branches.  You can see where the prints were placed, down to the page number.

In the Between the Pages is a series that I may continue in the future. Who knows?

If you’re interested in participating in the Bibliothēca Project, contact the Roman Susan Foundation. Share your project idea/goal and run with it.
