Summer Graduate Fellowship

This summer I received a summer graduate fellowship, which afforded me the opportunity to do a curatorial fellowship. I chose to work with a local non-profit. By the end of the summer, I will have curated a small exhibition for a young, emerging artist in the Southside Chicago area to make an outdoor piece.

As I am spending my days researching and learning about the histories/complexities of street art, graffiti art, and outdoor mural art, I have been able to meet with several people in the community who work in the art field. From the co-author of Boarded Up Chicago, Mr. Slaughter, (contains an Amazon affiliate link) to Ms. Dorian Sylvain, an award-winning Chicago-based artist who does a lot of work in outdoor mural spaces. She recommended two art institutions below for those interested in taking art classes:
